Quantity Surveyor

Following the award of several new contracts, we have a vacancy's for a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our team. This position will be based in North Dublin 

Bell Contracts & Co Ltd are a professional construction company which operates throughout Ireland. We provide construction, property redevelopment and refurbishment services across all public sectors such as Education, Health, Housing, Aviation and local authority works.

Responsibilities 

  • Analyse construction drawings and specifications to identify labour, material, and specialist requirements
  • Preparation of enquiry documents, sourcing and obtaining material and subcontractor quotations including final negotiations and orders
  • Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors and set sub-contractor packs
  • Complete monthly sub contractor valuations through to final account
  • Complete monthly valuations to PQS and record all additional works items
  • Liaise with clients to agree rates/variations and cost analysis
  • Measure works as per contract specific schedule of rates 
  • Preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts within the agreed timescales
  • Working closely with Management and Accounts to ensure accurate and vigorous cost management of the project to deliver a profitable outcome
  • Provide accurate and robust monthly reports for Management and Client Progress Meetings
  • Attend and participate in Site Progress Meetings

Candidate

  • Ideally have Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or in other related disciplines. Applicants with HND/HNC or strong construction related experience will also be considered for the role
  • Working knowledge of the PWC form of contracts.
  • Experience in Estimating / Quantity Surveying role within a Main Contracting organisation for at least 2 years
  • Be articulate, pro-active with excellent commercial acumen and communication skills and comfortable working with minimum supervision
  • Be able to demonstrate initiative whilst working in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages including outlook, word, excel and project
